DDR with a "Twist"
« on: February 05, 2007, 01:00:49 pm »
Well, I know it was bound to happen but guess what just rolled out of the developer's drawing board...

http://wii.ign.com/objects/882/882328.html

"Hottest Party"? Not the greatest name but anyway.... I've never played DDR before but I've always wanted to try one but the opportunity only presented itself once and I didn't take it up for fear of embarassment as it would've been my first try...

I wonder how the controls work for this...

edit: Just found out XD (sorta)
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/02/02/konami-announces-dance-dance-revolution-hottest-party-for-wii/

There wil be a dance mat peripheral as well :O
Wii Remote and Nunchuk also used apparently. Wonder how that'll work. Sounds fun though. I'd give it a try for sure. :)

DDR is a very fun game. It also keeps you active if you are a gamer and don't do much :P or if it is raining. And, even though DDR: Mario Mix is for beginners, it won't be that fun when you are experienced. Don't know much about DDR for the Wii but it is worth a try at the arcades dodging embarrassment.

Well, it looks pretty official.  And it has a song from Naoki.  I think it may just be of normal difficulty.  Which has kinda fluctuated, as from first to SuperNova, the songs have been becoming progressively harder

Looks like a dumb gimmick, which'll probably be poorly implemented, and it'll doubtless be really easy (and if there are any hard stepcharts, they'll be very, very poorly designed).

In other words, typical of DDR since Extreme.

Given by the fact that both hands and feet will be actively involved.. :S

Hm?  Poorly designed?  How so?

As in there won't be any real consideration for patterns of movement formed by interaction between the two (go play EZ2Dancer if you're in the UK and there's one near you, it achieves this fairly well).

I just plain don't expect much of Konami anymore.

The hand motions of such a game would probably work similar to the playstation's eyetoy gimmick, and would be an extra optional function, like in some of the more recent ddr games.  The difficulty of the step patterns is still questionable, however, given the easy difficulty of mario ddr, nintendo's last console contribution to the ddr scene.  On the other hand, the main complaint from reviews of mario ddr was the easy difficulty, so maybe nintendo will take it up a notch as response.

Yeah but it won't be Nintendo designing the stepcharts, it'll be Konami.

And Konami aren't known for listening to their playerbase on these things.

For some reason, I can picture Sonic in DDR or a DDR Sonic Mix. XD

That sounds cool, KS8. I would love to see Sonic in a DDR game, but it's just not the kind of thing the blue blur's good at, y'know? Sonic's better at racing-related stuff... *remembers party mode on SSR* Except...for that.

Yeah, DDR is fun, but I haven't played it much so I can't really add my two cents fairly.
The moon is so red. Looks like it's going to be a fun night.
